What were you plans after clearing IPCC?
After clearing the IPCC, it was time to begin with articleship. I was exhilarated by the thought of exposure and opportunities that I would get.
But soon my happiness took a turn when I underwent a toe surgery and wasn’t able walk properly for sometime.
Hence, at that time, I wasn’t able to apply for top 10 firms for articleship.
I despised my luck, but leaving all this behind I started articleship at CAG & co. LLP (A mid-size CA firm)
If you work in Mid-size firm as an article, they will not only give the job you were assigned, they’ll make sure you work in each and every domain, which might be quite hectic sometimes and you don’t even get time to study.
After few months, I applied in BDO for articleship in IDT (indirect taxes) profile. But my luck was not at all on my side and all I got was disappointment.
Around May 2018, I completed my articleship and started preparing for CA-FINAL and in December 2018 I appeared for it.
I was not able to get through.
There was a little hope left, but keeping my goal in mind I decided to strive to clear CA-FINAL in my next attempt.
How did you get the Job in Investment Banking then?
During my CA final preparations, I was really intrigued by investment banking & equity research. I started researching about it and was convinced enough to build a career in this field.
One day, while exploring such opportunities, I came across The Wall Street school. It’s a premier institute for Investment Banking.
I connected with their alumni on Linkedin, and asked about the details and scope of the course. I found them through the placement section of The Wallstreet School’s website. Their placement section has given the
After that I connected with Mr. Himanshu Jain (Co-founder, The Wall Street school). I was really convinced after my conversation with him, but I didn’t go for it. Because I decided to go for it only if I clear CA-FINAL.
On 13th August 2019, I was on the moon. I cleared CA-FINAL!
But even after working so hard and for so long, I was not shortlisted anywhere in the campus placements of ICAI. My expectations took a backseat.
On 4th October, I finally joined the 6 weeks Investment Banking Program at Wall Street school. My experience at Wall Street school has been a turning point in my career in True sense.
What role did The Wallstreet School (TWSS) play in getting you placed?
Almost everything was taught practically and with utmost level of understanding.
They have structured their curriculum meticulously which incorporates all the experiences of their faculty, who themselves are Investment Bankers with 15+ years of experience
Just after a week of completing this Program, I got interview calls from 2 of the top five firms of India (EY and BDO) for the “Valuations’ profile, which isn’t easy to get into. Both the interviews were facilitated by TWSS’s Placement cell.
I finally accepted the offer from BDO, where I was rejected 2 years back for the articleship.
Sometimes, life takes a full turn. And you’ve to be up for it. Cheers!
